From the Office
We praise God for the opportunity of serving Him this month. We have been able to preach to 350 children in 6 schools in Lopburi (very small schools) and to witness to a group of students in Vientiane, Laos, and train God's mission to teens in our church. We have seen what God is doing in the lives of the teens who have been trained and are burdened with God's work. We are especially excited that at church, in June, we baptized 6 people who have decided to believe in Jesus.
Proclaiming Jesus Christ to the children in Thailand is not easy. But we are pleased to be a team that goes out into the field to preach to those who may otherwise never hear about Jesus. Naturally, we encounter problems that need immediate solutions, but God always guides us through. We know that this is because we have YOU, a team of diligent prayers who are behind us and who pray for us regularly. YOU who are faithful in prayer. Knowing this is so valuable to us because prayer brings protection from God, protecting us from things we cannot see. This prayer has kept us going out to serve God. Thank you for your prayers.
From the Correspondence Bible Lessons Team
After our outreach to schools in Lopburi, there were 30 children interested in joining our correspondence program. The teachers there had also welcomed us warmly and gave the children the opportunity to join the lesson activities with us. It is the teachers themselves who have offered to be our ‘postmen’, delivering the lessons to the children for us. We are so grateful to God for wonderful teachers with open hearts. Ten of these children also connected with us online to ask for additional materials to pass on to their friends and to watch the video clips that we post about Jesus. Below are some of the comments that we received from the children
Boy 10 years old: I would like to join in more activities. Would you be able to come to my school again?
Girl 12 years old: I would like to request more comic books from the Good News Team. How many stories do you have? I would like to have many stories. I like them very much. I would like to apply to be a member and join the Good News Team correspondence activities. (Right now, I have studied up to Set 1, Chapter 3.)
Boy 9 years old: Hello, can I join the bible study activity? I am a Buddhist, but I want to join the Good News Team activities.
Boy 12 years old: My friend wants to join the activity too. He is my close friend. The club activities are very fun. Do you have any more for me to do? (I have finished the 3rd set.)
Girl 11 years old: Do you remember me? I'm from Ban XXXXX School. I really like your puppet show. I want you to come again.
1) Pray for the children who enrol in the correspondence lessons so that they will continue to learn about Jesus and will develop a strong relationship with Him .
2) Pray for the continued development of new lessons, both printed and online formats.
3) Pray that we as a team will continue to grow in passion for this great work that God has called us to.
4) Pray for creativity as we look for new ways of sharing the Good News to this generation of children
5) Please pray for the health of our Good News Team members:
- Miew is struggling with rheumatoid arthritis and requires special diet and care. She has aches all over her body, especially in her left hip.
- Nutt is struggling with ongoing back pain and pain in his left hip..
- Palm has been generally unwell
- Jean is continuing to recover from her surgery
- Tim tore ligaments and tendons in his left wrist
- Bronwyn was hospitalized for a short time
6) Pray for safe travels as we go to the outreach in Saraburi, July 14 to 18 and for good relationships with the teachers and other staff at each school
7) Pray for God’s presence to rest on the children as the outreach is conducted and that many children will respond to Him.
8) Pray that the rural church pastors from the region who accompany us to the schools will connect well with the schools and be able to develop a good relationship with each school
9) Pray for churches in Thailand. Pray that we will develop even stronger relationships with rural churches who will partner with us in connecting us to rural schools in their region.
10) Pray that children who hear our presentations in schools will, where possible, be able to be connected back into those churches.
Thank you again for your faithful prayers and support for the Team and for the children of Thailand. You are truly making a difference in the lives of many Thai children.
May God’s blessings be with you all
Valerie and the Team
