December
In December the Team did several outreaches to schools in Nonthaburi, Chaiyaphum, and Chiangrai, telling about the true meaning of Christmas. This is the time when Thai people are very open to learn about Jesus. We are thankful for all these wonderful opportunities to share the Gospel!
Fruit from Christmas outreach in Chiangrai
In January at our annual pastors’ conference I (Noinon) met a pastor from Chiangrai where we did an outreach in December. He was excited to share with me that more than 10 children from one school came to their church Christmas event after our outreach, and the church members were so encouraged by this that they have already been back to that school and are ready to talk about their faith more boldly than before. I feel very thankful that God uses our team in both ways: to reach the children and also to encourage the local believers to share the Gospel.
February Outreaches
15 February: We will go to Wattana School in Central Bangkok. This is a large Christian all girls’ school where most of the students come from Buddhist families, and we have the opportunity to share the Good News with more than 1600 girls that day. Please pray for an atmosphere full of God’s love and that the message would come out clearly and inspiringly through our games, song, and puppet story.
19-23 February: Please pray for this outreach during which the Team will be in the northeastern province of Sisaket. Pray too for a Team from Lifepoint church (Wellington, NZ) who will be with us in these schools. Pray for open hearts in schools and also for all practical aspects such as safe travels and good health for everyone. Praise the Lord for this open door and ask for his blessing for the local Christians who have a burden for these schools.
Nusara (girl, 10): I was sure I had failed an exam but when the results came I was among the top students. Thank you God for being on my side!
Angkhana (girl, 11): Some children want to hurt me but I’m praying God will help me in this dangerous situation. My birthday will be soon, could you send me the full Bible? I really love to read the Bible. (all students get the New Testament but full Bibles are sent by request only.)
Poramet (boy, 9): I had problems with friends who bullied me but when I prayed it got much better. Also, I want to ask, why did the soldiers nail Jesus on the cross?
Buchu (girl, 9): God has given me wisdom and stronger mind.
Kamolphon (girl, 10): Thank you for chatting with me. I have been depressed, but you have listened to me and made me smile again. I know now that God is with me. He tests us to make us stronger. Thank you also for the fun games. I love Good News Team!
Rattanaphon (girl, 10): I don’t know what I’ve done to make my friends resent me. But I don’t care, I just think of Jesus all the time.
Jittichai (boy, 16): I was a lazy student, but after doing your Bible correspondence lessons I have become more diligent.
Ganyaphat (girl, 12): I cannot decide yet whether I should believe in Jesus or follow the religion of my mother and father. I’m a bit distressed about this, not knowing which path to choose. At first I didn’t believe that I’m a sinner; I thought, ‘I’m only a child and haven’t done anything bad’. But now I understand that I’m a sinner too. I’d like to buy a Bible to learn more, but I’m afraid my father will get angry if he sees me reading it. I still really want to study more. At school we have a foreigner teaching English, and he has also told us about God. It has made me to want to learn more.
Children who study our Bible lessons: Please pray especially for the children whose names and stories you see here. These honest letters show us glimpses of their lives. Pray that Jesus would meet them personally in their joys and struggles, and show his power when they ask for His help. They can be a testimony of God’s love among their peers.
Team: Pray that this year could be fruitful in our lives and through our ministry (Galatians 5:22-23; John 15:5), and that we would grow in ‘wisdom and stature’, following the example of Jesus (Luke 2:52). Please pray for all of us by name: Noinon & Jeen, Kanchana, Nut, Paow, Bobae, Saara & Markus, and Valerie.
