JOR01 - Manara International - Support of Refugees

Report Date: February 2, 2018

lots of needy families

Update from Manara International

Manara International was able to visit many Iraqi and Syrian refugee families this month (January). There are 20 Christian Iraqi families living in Zarqa. This month we were able to visit 10 of these families and distribute the needed items such as food packages and winter clothes as it is the winter season. We were also able to take each family's contact information. What these families shared is that the churches that used to give them aid have stopped and Manara International has come in perfect timing to support these families. It is wonderful to see how God times events perfectly because He knows exactly what is needed.

One of the families that we visited is made up of four members, originally from Mosul. They escaped to Jordan because of threats and oppression from Da’esh. The father was a construction contractor, and it seems he is an architect. As we were talking to him he mentioned that he left Iraq with absolutely nothing, not even money. Now he feels so much pain as life is too hard here. He said “I escaped Iraq with absolutely nothing, all that I worked for is gone. I used to build houses, and invest as well but now I live in one small room with my family instead of living in one of the nice houses that my hands helped build.”

much needed suppliesIt is hard to comfort someone who is feeling such pain and loss but we prayed with him and his family and asked God to comfort him and to give him hope instead of the sadness and despair he is feeling.

This month of January we also provided the clinic in Zarqa with large bags of clothes and blankets. We sent them 40 boxes and 15 bags of clothes and eight large bags of blankets, and in turn the clinic distributed these items to 42 Syrian refugee families living in the Mafraq desert. They live in tents and are facing a hard time due to the harsh cold. These families total to 223 people, which includes a large number of children. Through this harsh winter, these families do not have enough to keep themselves and their children warm. These families are in a dire need for heaters, more blankets and winter clothes, and more food packages.

It is a blessing to us to see the happiness and joy when they received these items that they need so much.

Thank you so much for partnering with us to assist these people.
