SOWERS International Newsletter January 2026

The year 2025 has been a season of remarkable growth and outreach for the SOWERS Program in Africa and 2026 will continue to be a year of consolidation, development and expansion.

Recent Events

Namibia

Namibia is now open to the SOWERS Program, with encouraging reception from local churches and leaders. Regards to leadership development, two men were trained to Level 3 and are already teaching and coordinating the SOWERS Program. Plans are in place for Godfrey to graduate them to Level 4 in March 2026 - a key step toward national self-empowerment.

Mozambique

In Mozambique the work has been strengthened with leadership growth in Nampula. One man is being trained to Level 4 to coordinate and teach the program. In the demonstration open air meeting, several secondary school students responded to the Gospel. There are plans to graduate him to level 4 in October 2026. This will mark a significant milestone for the ministry in Nampula.

Tanzania

Emmanuel`s visit to Tanzania in October was a breakthrough for regional unity. Meeting with the Interim SI Board allowed them to align resources and direction for the future. This successful meeting has opened a clear path for SOWERS to grow across the border, ensuring that more people in East Africa will hear the Gospel through well organised and supported local teams.

Botswana

promising startIn Botswana there has been a promising start with Godfrey launching the SOWERS Program in Botswana in December 2025, under the invitation of New Zealand missionaries. The Program was introduced to local churches and encouragingly 42 participants attended the first Level 1 seminar. During our demonstration open air meeting two men were saved. The challenge now, in Botswana, is consistent follow-up and local ownership. Please pray for indigenous leadership to emerge. David is the main local organiser and leader.

Ethiopia

The Messages of God Church in Ethiopia have a strong vision for reaching unreached people groups and would like SOWERS to train and equip their evangelists for this work. Emmanuel will do an exploratory trip to Addis Ababa in March to meet with their leaders and to discuss how SOWERS can support their church planting efforts. If all goes well, Emmanuel will return to Ethiopia in June to attend the Christian Brethren conference to share about the SOWERS Program. Following the conference, he will lead a SOWERS Seminar to train the leaders.

Kenya

During a three-day mission in Lwandeti, Kenya, the combination of three Sowers teams saw the power of God move through simple door-to-door evangelism. By the end of the mission, 90 souls had trusted Jesus Christ as their Saviour. It was a beautiful sight to see local leaders from five different churches receiving Bibles and Sunday School manuals, equipped and ready to disciple these new believers.

The commitment of the few at Mile Sita and Nakuru Globe Church, was a reminder that God does not need a crowd to do a great work. We were deeply encouraged by a small core group of three dedicated individuals and five elderly women who have remained zealous and committed to the SOWERS vision. Their faithfulness is a testimony that God uses anyone who is willing to be used, regardless of age or gender.

In the final days of December, the team went to the Sigowet village in Timboroa to reach the local farmers. Despite their busy lives, the Holy Spirit opened their hearts and 77 people gave their lives to the Lord. In addition, many others who had drifted away from their faith were restored. Seeing families in this farming community turn to Christ together was a powerful way to end the year.

training level 3sZambia

Titus, on the Copperbelt, in Zambia, trained 11 Level 3's at Mushingashi Baptist Fellowship Church. They have planted two new churches in Kakema area and they plan to go to Musakashi, about 98 kilometres from where they live, to support one of the Level 3's, who is from there, to have open air meetings and to introduce the Sowers ministry in that area.

Prayer and Praise Points

1) Local leaders to be raised up in Botswana
2) Wisdom and discernment for Emmanuel when he goes to Ethiopia
3)  Funding to increase to meet the challenges

5) Project funding
