NEP03 - Personal support of Navin Darlami - SOWERS International

Report Date: February 18, 2021

Report from Nabin Darlami (October - December 2020)

Ministry

hard at work

It has been my great privilege to visit with some fellows as I have visited church pastors, organizational leaders, prayer teams and evangelism teams using the Internet and by direct meeting together too. Nowadays we have news of a new coronavirus appearing. In the beginning of COVID-19 it was a challenge to meet with each other but more recently we are able to meet in cell groups with caution. We are having fellowship and working in small groups. We are also having Committee meetings online for further planning to Go, Sow and Grow for God’s kingdom in Nepal.

People are suffering from demonic spirits and getting sicknesses and many of them have contacted us and have been hearing the Good News about Jesus Christ. They believed in Christ and received healing blessings. God is moving and the Holy Spirit is doing great miracles. Many non-Christian relatives and neighbours are coming to show their sympathy with family members in such times. We are taking advantage to meet people in their home too and continue sharing the gospel among cell groups and also person-to-person.

The SOWERS method is very effective for evangelism and to keep a vision and passion for Nepali churches. November and December were busy for me in sharing the gospel and counselling people who are growing in Christ and also for the various ministries. I shared the gospel with a crowd who attended a funeral service and our Christmas celebration occasion to the new people who visited inside and outside of our church.

Activities

income source

Due to the pandemic times I visited in different places during these months. I went to visit sister Bina and bought a roll of fabric for her sewing business (60,000 rupees). She is very keen to do this business for her income source. I reminded her to give tithes to her church from her income.

A SOWERS established church made a small hall for fellowship where there are 78 members. They are having regular fellowship in their village. I joined in the opening and church dedication program on 21st December 2020. I preached a message from the Word of God and encouraged them to dedicate their lives to God and to win more souls among their neighbours.

We Christian leaders went together to visit district and regional parliaments to give Christmas wishes in a letter prepared to hand over to the officers. We shared with them and handed over the prepared letter but we did not get a chance to meet the main officer because of a political situation. After we had reached the place we found out that all the officers went to the capital two days earlier.

We did a Christmas program in the church and shared the gospel with the people who visited the church on Christmas celebration days. So our time was exciting and blessed under His grace.

Personal

Our three young children are growing and they are achieving education in their college life. My health is good. I am doing God’s work in my nation to win more souls. I am serving as an evangelist and am responsible to fulfil God’s calling even though we are finding it a challenge to visit out of home because of Covid-19. But we are secure till now by continuing to do God’s work as we visit from place to place.

My wife’s health situation is good in His grace. Nowadays my wife is free from sickness so she does not need medicine.

Personal Stories

tough life

Sumitra and Binita Kepchaki live in Sotkhola village, 17 kms from my living place. Sumitra is the grandmother and Binita is a granddaughter in her family. Both of them accepted Christ on October 7th 2020 during my visit to her village on my way going home from visiting some keen leaders to pray together with them in their church two hours distance by motorbike. I met Sumitra at the side of a stream where they were grazing their ox and goats. I drank water there and talked with them together for 30 minutes. I asked their names and some introduction.

As she shared she started to weep deeply and wipe away her tears. She shared her story about why she desired to commit suicide according to her secret plan. But why she became open to share her story and her problem with me - that is a mystery. Maybe God prepared her heart to share with me and God led me to her to share the gospel. Her husband is a drunkard. Her two sons are also drunkards and her son’s wife left them and married another man. None of them have a job so there is no income in their family. Her husband drinks wine always and gives trouble in the family. Her husband and sons have not left home to work for many years. They have no food in their family in these pandemic months. Because there was no hope she desired and planned to commit suicide.

I shared my story with her and her granddaughter. I shared the Good News of Jesus Christ that we have eternal hope in Christ. I called a food grain master and I requested him to deliver rice and lentils for them immediately. I prayed for them and I left them there that day. I told them before I left to meet again soon and invited them to come to my home to meet next week. But she joined a home fellowship near her place and continues growing in Christ. She is happy even though she struggles to survive.

She came to my house to meet me as I invited her 10 weeks ago. I was very happy to welcome her into my home. Her husband is giving her trouble, trying to stop her joining in fellowship. She is having struggles to attend the fellowship and to grow in Christ. Her granddaughter is studying in grade 7. She is struggling to study, so pray for them please, to be strong in Christ. What would be a good way to help them in Christ and how her husband and two sons also could come to Christ? Pray for them to get ready to accept Christ in their life, who are not ready yet, but passing their life in drinking wine. A terrible life for this woman really!

Plans for the Future

primitive lifestyleI continue to pray about conducting seminars for Nepali churches to Go, Sow and Grow. I am focusing on establishing churches in the mountain and Himalayan districts of the nation. I want to visit church leaders to give seminars to their evangelists as was my vision and provision in past times. I want to live my life to conduct seminars for other countries’ churches too in Asia.

One of the tribes in Nepal is called Raute who live in the forest. There are around 300 members in their community. They never cultivate the land or live in a sustainable way. They change their living place every three months. If any of their members die they change their living place even before three months. They make different types of homes with useable materials and barter with grains. Monkey is their most liked meat. They never study and no one very basic homeis studying from their tribe. Going to school and study is a crime for this tribe. The Nepal government and NGO/INGO are trying to help them develop by providing education and good settlement in their society, but nobody has had success in getting them to change their lifestyle. They never allow their girls to marry men of other tribes but it is allowed for their men to marry other tribes’ females. These tribal people are totally different among many so I am focusing to pray and win these souls in Christ. It is a challenge and I am praying for them to win them to Christ, so pray for us.

Comments

We are so grateful for your faithfulness in praying for my family and God’s work in Nepal. We are looking forward to new ways to serve in God’s kingdom beyond January 2021 as SI is giving individual guidelines and direction for serving methods to serve the same God and do His work. My children are also preparing their lives for God’s work to help us, so I am proud of them.

May God richly bless you all.
