Activities
Special significant events have happened in the last three months as mentioned below.
All teams who were trained from different places of our nation have shared the gospel all over the place. Due to the evangelism report results collected; 350 people heard the gospel; 970 different types of gospel tracts were distributed to the people; and 9 people have been baptised in the triune God's name. One church building construction has been completed last month at the end of March 2019 and this building was dedicated to God. This church has been established by a SOWERS evangelistic team. This church has 30 members now. We are doing gospel movement continually in special occasions among groups and individuals.
New Profiles
Nanda Sijali is a new person who is in contact with us from Surkhet valley. He is a bold evangelist, deacon and responsible leader in his church. He is a trained evangelist in SOWERS methods and very keen to join with us as a volunteer partner in our SOWERS team to arrange seminars with churches in our capital city.
Our partners are Dinesh Chand, Hissy Tamang, Prakash Baraili, James Tamang, Ganesh Poudel, Somati Gurung, Hannah Thapa, Shila Shahu who have been together since the beginning. They are serving voluntarily for God’s kingdom. These brothers and sisters are doing ministry voluntarily so well that their family situations are a challenge to live and survive to meet their family's needs as well. They are devoted and special keen persons for God’s kingdom in Nepal. They are from different denominational church groups and good people in their communities, keeping good reputations among their communities. They are trained through the SOWERS methods and are keen to win souls and they are also continuing to help to arrange seminars to share the gospel. So they are suited to be on the team - that is their contribution. They are from farming backgrounds. They were born in Hindu families and are converted Christians now. They are dedicated persons and seek God’s provision to grow the kingdom of God. They are all doing faith ministry but are not supported financially on a regular basis from their church, except James Tamang. They are giving their valuable time for the teams and evangelism.
Deacon Nanda Sijali, 35 years old
Family situation: Nanda Sijali was born in, and since his childhood, has lived in a strong Hindu religious family. His parents are doing Hindu ritual practices by undertaking animal and bird sacrifices. He is married and this couple has two daughters. He is a well-educated fellow in their community but he did not get peace in his life while he was doing those righteous practices. He was worried in his life and was searching for peace continually. He heard the gospel in Asaam, India and he accepted Christ in his young age 15 years ago and graduated from Bible college training. He is conducting an evangelism team and has a vision to win unreached people to Christ so he is arranging SOWERS training. So many people are hearing the gospel from those groups and 9 people have accepted Christ. He is a keen evangelist and trainer by partnering with SOWERS voluntarily.
How has their life been changed because of being involved in the partnership? Deacon Nanda Sijali is a leader of church ministries and conducting church ministries with his pastor, but after he was trained in SOWERS he is focusing on evangelism to win souls. He is running his leadership role and gospel sharing environment in balance in his life. He guides an evangelism team, and is reaching souls, and his ministries are being fruitful. So I can say his life has been changed because of being involved in partnership with us.
What things have happened to them? He was trained through SOWERS seminars and it has been inspirational for his life because he himself dedicated his own life for God’s kingdom. He is doing regular evangelism individually with people even though the situation is not easy to do open air meetings everywhere in our nation. This seminar inspired him to make sharing the gospel a life habit to reach the unreached people so that it has happened to him and in his team.
Elder Maya Gurung, 44 years old
Elder Maya Gurung was trained in SOWERS evangelism methods in past years. She is joining in SOWERS seminars and collecting experiences about how to share the gospel and how to face problems and situations from groups of non-Christians. She is a keen leader to conduct church leaders by establishing church ministry. Because of her SOWERS training she is strongly influenced about these methods so she is making her aims to share the gospel using these methods. This seminar and its methods are touching her to share the love of Christ. She is teaching in a private school specially for kindergarten so that evangelism and social service is good through her to win souls. She is unmarried in her family context.
This sister is separating times a day every week in a month to share the gospel to unreached people groups. She is conducting a fellowship among 45 people after she was sharing the gospel to the people where there is a keen and growing team in the community. It is most necessary to look after those people who have accepted Christ. They have a permanent room, land and hall provided for them. A church member has given a small piece of land to the church and their team made a fellowship hall. So I can say this sister has dedicated her life to share the gospel after she took evangelism training and now she is a volunteer partner with SOWERS.
Elder Maya Gurung is a bold woman leader in the church of West Nepal. She is one of the influential leaders for society through her life for the gospel. It is strong pictures and impacting to others in their life so fruit is growing and the new fellowship is conducting.
Political leaders are not supportive from their sector in reality but are not giving troubles to the evangelism and church planting. It depends on their understanding too. Some are positive with Christianity and some have a strong Hindu understanding. Those who are strong Hindus regard Christians as foreign religion preachers in their understanding.
The SOWERS seminar is very effective and this seminar is demanded from churches and leaders. We heard comments from the community in regard to the impact the project is having in the community of churches and Christian leaders that this SOWERS evangelism method is very much an effective method to win souls in huge numbers easily in a short time by sharing multi-tools. It has practical and usable unique methods to evangelize, they are saying.
We want to continue to give more training to the churches in coming years. We want to prepare and send evangelist teams among those remote villages where there are not churches nor evangelists and where villages are without vehicles and road connections as I mention below. We are doing a survey in such challenging situations where are living thousands and millions of people. We are challenged to prepare evangelists and send them there so that is our future plan and strategy.
Strong Hindu religious groups are active against Christians in our nation, but God is with us. God is moving in His power and will. Unreached people who are hearing the gospel are believing in Christ and establishing churches.
Nepal is a developing country and there are not road connections from village to village everywhere. There are some districts like it that there is no road connection from one district to another district, with remote mountains where there are no connection vehicle roads nor airport available so it is a challenge to reach among those people to share the love of Christ. There are some villages where it takes two weeks to two months to reach there from one district to another because there is no vehicle road connection. Such is the challenge in West Nepal. I have the vision to share the gospel with them and agree to establish churches there is our responsibility. Our nation's consititution is not as good as we thought but Nepali churches are spreading the gospel even in any situation so this is our challenging experience.
We want to share our prayer request to raise funding for travelling and accommodation costs for evangelism to reach those remote villages and districts. We are facing problems to raise funds for SOWERS seminars in different places of our country. We are collecting 30% from trainees who attend seminars and SOWERS International is bearing 70% of the cost in every seminar, as is our practice. We need administration, communication, food, accommodation, seminar things like paints, papers, books, printing cost, stationery for the trainers to run seminars to prepare evangelists to win souls for God’s kingdom.
We are very much thankful for your kindness and love to encourage us for His glorious ministry in our nation Nepal.
