Greetings from the plains of Rukungiri and Marumba Christian school and community, in particular, this is a day which the Lord God has made, giving me life, breath and the riches in Christ Jesus - His beloved son. I cannot cease to count all that He has done and continues to do in my life. I trust that you are doing well and the grace of the most High God is keeping you well.
Activities
With the current situation and turn of events, and what is trending in the whole world today due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is very hard and unpredictable to know and tell what is next.
I thank God that we are able to run the school activities although in a sort of dramatically altered way because we no longer follow our traditional calendar of opening and closing the school terms or semesters. We have to wait to hear from the government through the Ministry of Education to announce the dates for opening or closing of certain classes. I want to tell you, it is very disturbing.
From 15th October 2020 Primary seven was allowed to report back to school and they ended their year on 30th and 31st and did their final national exams.
On 1st March 2021 Primary six reported back to school and they have been studying but have closed today (21st May 2021) and will have a short break of two weeks that will be up to 7th June. They will then begin their final term which will run up to 24th August 2021 at which stage they will then be promoted to Primary seven.
We have been teaching Primary four and Primary five and for them the term is ending on 7th June until the government announces when they can return.
On 7th June we shall receive primary Primary one, two and three and their term will run up to 24th August and they will do promotional exams. It is so dramatic like that.
The school enrollment has been between 65 to 70 pupils that is for Primary six, five and four respectively, with five teachers and this includes the head teacher.
The second phase of opening on 7th June for lower primary that is P rimary one, two and three will bring about 90 pupils. We shall have no kindergarten running until 2023.
Praise
We have many reasons to praise God for;
1) Amongst all our teachers, children and parents no one has died of COVID-19, despite some of us having it; our God protected us and healed me from COVID-19.
2) We survived the terrible lockdown and the Lord was so faithful to most of us.
3) We have been able to reopen the school again and continue making payments to our teachers.
4) Our teachers have remained committed, passionate and focused to their work regardless of many tough challenges they have gone through.
5) We thank God for BHW that you have kept us in your prayers and extended financial support during the very difficult time. As always, I want say thank you so much and many blessings to you friends.
Prayer points
1) We are struggling with a number of challenges and these include; most of our parents have failed to raise the little school fees we used to charge them. We depend on some donations from Shared Hope, Stewards’ Foundation and the COVID fund that has been coming from Bright Hope Aorld.
2) We are facing challenges in meeting some costs like feeding the children, teachers’ meals, rent, stationery, water and electricity bills, repairs and renovations
