Update from Justus

I send special and lovely greetings to you in the holy name of the Lord Jesus Christ whom we find refuge and rest. Also, let me take this opportunity to wish you a happy new year. It is worth to thank God for the good and bad things we went through last year.

Recent Events

Holidays

The school is on holiday until mid-February. We were supposed to close on 7th December 2015 like other schools, but we did not do it like that because we wanted our children to graduate (those in the top class) and we did that on 18th December.  We had planned to have a speech day on that particular date. One of the things that challenged parents and everyone who came was a primary four pupil by the name of Emmanuel who stood in front of them to translate for the preacher, who is also one of our teachers, into the local language. Parents were happy and just because of that they contributed 15 bags of cement to work on our toilets.

Parents Meeting

While in the meeting we made these proposals to the parents;
1) they will continue to bring beans,
2) school fees are to be increased due to high i
nflation. The nursery section will increase from UGX40,000 to UGX70,000 (US$20) and the primary section from UGX50,000 to UGX60,000 (US$17).

If all this projection goes through we shall be collecting US$4,000 and since most of the costs are being worked on, the funds from the milk cooler and the cow project can work on the development.

New Toilets

Initially we had planned to build one single toilet with a lot of doors but the municipality physical planner has refused us. They have said that we need three toilets, one for teachers and two for the children (one for boys and the other one for girls) and they need to be of good standard. They have stopped us from continuing renovating the rest of the school until we deal with the toilets first.

This will cost approx US$3,000. We are looking to sell some of the cows which would provide approximately half the funds required.

Regardless of this challenge we are admitting so many pupils and we are getting close to 200.

Cows / Milk Cooler (UGA07)

At the time we received the funds for the milk cooler, the cooler we had ordered had unfortunately already been sold so we decided to fix these funds in a bank account until the election is over. Everything here in Uganda is stuck, the inflation is so high.

The cow project continues to do well and was able to  support the teachers in terms of salaries for last term.

Thank you so much for supporting us.
