God is working at the House of Hope!
After School Classes
These classes provide a safe space for children who live in a very dangerous environment. At the House of Hope they do their homework and also learn English and music. In the music class, I teach worship songs with words about the love of Jesus that really impact and touch their hearts.
Nong Ink loved these songs so much that she asked me if she could join in every single activity at the House of Hope, including church on Sunday. Not only did Ink give her life to Jesus on that first Sunday, but the next Sunday she brought her brother It and her closest friend Muey along – and both of them also decided to follow Jesus. Now these three children are part of my team at the House of Hope.
Community Skills Training
What a great opportunity we have to make deep relationships with the people in our community. I have been teaching handicrafts to the children and their families that they are then able to sell to increase their income and improve their lives. Now they really feel that we care for them, and every week there have been new people in church asking how they can know more about the God who loves them.
One Wednesday last month, Aunty Hore told me that she is getting older and doesn’t have strength to travel and she is very excited about being able to support her family through this basket project.
Muey's Story
Muey was baptised in August last year with her two friends. She confided that she had been seeing spirits for a long time. No matter where she went, the spirits followed her. It really frightened her. Many of her school friends also saw them.
I taught her about the power of Jesus to break the curses and deliver us from fear, and told her to use the name of Jesus whenever she saw the spirits. She learned not to hide or run away, but to boldly stand, point at them and say “Go away in the name of Jesus”.
Muey did this, and the spirits fled. Her friends Bo and Jay asked what she was doing, and she said “I am driving away the spirits in the name of Jesus”. They were amazed at her boldness and the power of Jesus' name – they too came to church with her and gave their lives to Jesus.
Please pray for these children and our work in Tungsonghong. Pray that their testimony will impact and transform the whole community.
Thank you so much for your wonderful prayer support that really makes a difference to me, my family, and our work at House of Hope!
