Esteemed brothers and sisters at Bright Hope World,
We are grateful to God for your faithfulness, your prayers and your gifts and support each year that you send us for the children’s ministry and its different contexts:
• Native Ashaninca children from Aoti and other communities.
• Children from one of Lima’s shanty town type settlements.
• Segadores missionary kids.
Thank you for helping us advance the ministry. May God bless each one of your lives.
1) Pastor Victor Soto and his family have been called by God to missionary work amongst native children, with the vision of extending the kingdom into other villages.
Missionaries, Cristina Salas and Antonia Yalta, support Victor with teaching and running the Bible classes on Tuesdays and on Thursdays. Both young people and adults attend the classes. The course is adapted to the life and circumstances that they live in. We continue discipling the leadership group on Fridays. The children’s classes are growing and one thing they enjoy is making handcrafts, the adults ask if they can help by adding colour to the handcrafts made. It is a very interesting time because everyone shows such enthusiasm.
2) In Pampa Mercado, we have returned to teaching in the state school, and we are teaching bible stories to the children.
3) We continue bible teaching to the children in Aoti. Sister Deysi Sotoes is the children’s teacher along with the help of Cristina Salas. Every Sunday they provide breakfast for the children. The children are understanding the plan of salvation and some of them have received Christ as their Saviour.
4) It is a joy to share with you that our brother, Victor Soto, is discipling his father with the Word of God. We can see that the Holy Spirit is working in his life and confronting him through Victor’s words. He a healer and thanks to God he understands that if he follows these practises and doesn’t have faith in God as his only Lord and Saviour, he will spend his life condemned eternally to hell.
5) God has allowed us to support orphan children in three communities with school supplies and we have got into the state schools to support them with school supplies.
6) We distribute family baskets to orphans and to the elderly in Aoti.
7) Five people in the Aoti church attended the second training of Sunday school teachers in the city of Atalaya.
8) In coordination with the pastor of the Aoti church and the chief of the federation we have been able to get into the community of Pomporito, to continue to teach the Word of God to the members of the church and also, we have been able to get into the school to teach the Bible using the chronological method.
In this new community of Pomporito we have seen a lot of poverty. We have been able to provide shoes and coats for the cold weather, which is strong, during the rainy season the children can’t get to school.
Víctor Soto (Asháninca pastor) and the other leaders were mobilized to go to three other communities to present a movie: ”Jesus is the Saviour and King” based on Matthew 1:21 and Luke 1:32. There was a lot of response from the children and the adults.
The Ashaninca workers continued sharing the Word with three other communities more. For some there were gifts and for other larger communities there was hot chocolate.
The workers that they found in different ethnic groups; Shipibo, Yanesha and Ashaninka from Ucayali, also had programmes with the children teaching the Word of God and finished with hot chocolate. Some of the people were grateful and they said, “this is the first time that we have been blessed because we are forgotten”.
In January we had a retreat for the children of our missionaries. Marta Hocking took a small workshop where she told them about her experience as a daughter of missionaries. She expressed that she didn’t regret being the daughter of missionaries. The older children were very attentive and asked her to continue to tell them about her experiences.
In January the children, teenagers and parents took advantage of the opportunity to visit a commercial centre, a place where they love to go for a walk and to eat their favourite foods. Afterwards they went to places to play according to their ages.
School Campaign for Missionary Children
We have served one child and teenagers - they felt content with their school supplies and the parents were grateful to God and Heirs of Grace who are looking after their children who receive a lot of love. The children help their parents with the missionary work with the tribes. For every birthday and Christmas, Segadores send money to their parents to help to buy a gift according to the need.
Briana Tello, who is now 16 years old, applied and gained admission to the Private University – Ricardo Palma.
The involvement of Debora and Matias Acatrinei (children of missionaries) in the communications part, is a lot of help to the parents, in the diverse activities of the ministry.
Heirs of Grace has increased with three more children from the Sticea family who have come from Romania to serve in the Peruvian jungle.
We are grateful to God for the offering we receive from Bright Hope World for the ministry to children, Heirs of Grace.
After the pandemic we have continued to teach the Firm Foundations course to children of all ages. The children participate by memorising bible verses, and they are always there. We also try to evangelize the mothers of the children who participate in the bible school.
Every Saturday we give a refreshment to the children after the classes. Every three months we celebrate the birthdays of the children with cakes and sandwiches.
Segadores encourages the teachers on some important dates: Mother's Day, teachers day, birthday and Christmas with some gifts and going out to dinner.
We have a bazaar, so that the children memorise the verses and come frequently. Every Saturday the children get a voucher as an incentive to learn the verses and for punctual attendance. These vouchers accumulate and serve as an ability to buy things at the bazaar at Sunday school.
In the celebration for Mother's Day, we sent an invitation to all of the mothers of the children who attend with the goal of sharing the gospel with them. There was a good attendance, and we finished the day with refreshments and gifts for the mothers. At Christmas we had a party with gifts and special refreshments.
1) Pray for the continued discipling of the leaders in the Aoti community
2) Pray for the extension of the kingdom with the ministry to the children in neighbouring communities and other ethnic groups.
3) Pray for the construction of the kitchen in the Aoti church
4) Pray for more missionaries ready to go to the community to work with me so we can continue to go to other communities.
5) Pray for my (Antonio) health so that I will be able to walk without difficulty.
6) Pray for the leadership that they will improve their attention towards the missionary children and teenagers.
7) Pray for the teenagers and children, many of them go to the communities with their parents and are always exposed to contacting tropical diseases.
8) Pray that God looks after the studies for Briana Tello (left in photo) in the university.
We are grateful to God and Bright Hope World for the opportunity they give us to develop our ministry with the children and also to reach places less reached.
