Warm greetings from the beautiful shores and beaches of the beautiful lands of the wonderful Pemba.
We are very grateful to the Lord and to you all our faithful friends and partners, for your prayers for us and the work. The living Lord Jesus Christ is really at work and there is a turn around in the church. Both the children and youth work is growing and last Sunday 28/08/16 there were 60 children learning the Bible and dancing to the Lord. There is also an upward turn around in the general attendance and membership. We believe this is all because the Lord Jesus continues to confirm His presence in our gatherings with signs and wonders. Each Sunday, like in all the other services, we continue to see addition of souls to the church, healings and deliverances. Indeed He is alive. The girl in the chair (photo below) was delivered from drug addition and the person sitting on the floor (bottom photo) was delivered from occultism.
We thought of sharing with you about the developments going on with the children's work. The numbers continue to grow every week and every day. Our target is to have between 300 to 500 children by December. This work needs all the support because this is the future of the church and of this country and the contact point for the church with the community. What is more exciting is the fact it is leading us into homes of some families we had never thought of entering and this is proving to be a good tool for evangelism. At first we were viewed with suspicious eyes but slowly things are changing.
There are seven teachers who are involved in this work amongst the children. It is being led by a couple who are trained in children's work and they are really working very hard to see that this work develops to greater heights. You don’t need glasses to see their dedication and love for the children.
Some of these children are orphans, some of them are school going and others are yet to start schooling.
Please pray with us as the situation in Mozambique is not yet healthy. There is still military confrontation between the ruling party and the main opposition party. Both the nation and private medias have announced the discovery of a mass grave with decomposed bodies although the culprits are not yet known. There is no free movement of people or goods and there is a lot fear. The national currency has gone to the wire dropping deeply and causing prices to sky rocket every day.
There is an outcry throughout the nation. It hasn’t rained much this season, we had a severe drought, people have no food, prices for both food and accommodation have been raised due to the fall of the national currency and chaos is roaming in cities. Pray for us and the church in Mozambique.
The Pemba English Christian school needs your prayers to be established. We believe one of the other ways of evangelizing and influencing Islamic communities especially on a long term basis is to have believers (men and women) of integrity and influence in places of authority, people with a high level of understanding of things and hence the idea of Pemba English Christian School (PECS).
As I am writing now we have the land, the Government license, and community support permitting us to do the construction. This project is very crucial and critical in this work and its effect will go beyond the borders of this country and generations to come. This is a project worthy investing into. The idea here is to put up an English Christian School (boarding) which would work as an evangelistic tool not only in Pemba but even beyond the borders of this country. Remember our environment is Islamic. Would you join us in prayer as we need to get this started. We need the Lord’s provision to get started.
Katendi and Ilunga are going back to school. Katendi is completing her secondary school level this year in November and we are planning to be in Zambia a bit early to participate in her graduation which takes place in November. This goes with some immigration and financial complications.
