Prayer News May 2020

Recent Events

COVID-19

challenging timesCovid-19 has affected our work in Thailand too. After about 6 weeks of lockdown things are settling here, and the Team is moving from distance working back to our office. It has been quite challenging for most of us but we’ve tried our best. One main thing that the Team has been working on has been writing new Bible lessons.

Thai schools will remain closed until July 1st, which means about 2 extra months of no school for children. Countless people are experiencing severe financial hardship and difficulty in providing for their families. As you can imagine, this can directly affect the wellbeing of children in many ways. As of now we’re not sure when we will be able to start doing school outreaches again, but we’ll give you an update in our next prayer letter.

Personal Stories

Letters from our students:

Pokpon (girl, 13): I want to thank God for giving me happiness and being on my side all the time. He has taught me to love my neighbours like myself.

Srisuda (girl, 22): I’m an old student of yours and wanted to say hello! Now I live in Pattaya and me and my husband do Christian children’s ministry here. My grandparents still practice Buddhism and worship spirits but my parents have just received Jesus! They still have a lot to learn though. I’m so glad I studied with you and learned so much about God. I started your lessons when I was 11 years old, and I loved to ask questions. Such as, “is God real?” and “Where did Jesus go after he was risen from the grave?” Those questions helped me find God and his Son. If I hadn’t studied then, I wouldn’t have learned to love Jesus and wouldn’t be serving God today!

Prayer and Praise Points

challenging timesGIVE THANKS:
1) The Covid 19-numbers in Thailand have been low and the government is able to gradually loosen the restrictions
2) For former students who have grown in Christ and serve him in different ways throughout Thailand

PRAYER POINTS:
1) Team’s transition to work in the office again, and getting back on track with all aspects of work
2) Pray that we find new ways to reach out to children of Thailand if Covid 19-restrictions continue
3) Pray for the forming of a new governing board of the Good News Team, that God would bring the right people with the right gifts, abilities and a heart for the ministry.

Thank you for all your support and for keeping us and the Thai children in your prayers! May God bless you and keep you during these strange times.
