December is when we celebrate Christmas and remember God’s love for us and the hope that Jesus brings to our lives. It is the month where people all over the world look to the Middle East to see where the King of Kings was born. Throughout this month, we aimed to help as many Iraqi Christians as possible. We pray that through these humble efforts of ours, they see the love God has for them and that they are not alone, the family of Christ is with them.
A big Christmas celebration was held in a church where Jordanian and Iraqi Christian women gathered to celebrate Christmas. It was a joyful meeting where Christmas songs were sang and Nihad was able to share the message of Christ with the attendance. In closing, the invitation was extended to stand up and accept Christ as Lord and Savior. It was a joy to see many Jordanian and Iraqi women stand up and accept this invitation.
In Fuhais, a town west of Amman, a group of 60 Iraqi Christian families from Mosul gathered in a church hall to receive assistance. We were able to distribute shoes to each member of each family present. Each family also received a food package which contained basic food items and also a blanket to help them stay warm through the cold winter.
A big celebration was held for around 200 children and 200 adults who are all Iraqi Christians seeking safety in Jordan. Through a colored book they heard the good news of Jesus Christ and also enjoyed a wonderful selection of Arabic Christmas carols. “Santa Claus” was also there to distribute goodie bags filled with chocolate and candy for each child. Through this small act of kindness we hope to bring some joy and happiness to these families in this time.
Each family also received a blanket and a bag filled with basic food supplies. Adult Bibles and children’s stories were provided for all the people who attended.
A hot meal was served; a bowl of rice, a big piece of meat and sauce, with water and a soda.
As more refugees keep entering the country, the need increases for basic life necessities such as food, blankets, personal hygiene items, shoes and medical assistance. Pray for them as they face the most difficult situation of their lives. They have lost everything and came to a new land with nothing.
