Johnnery “Miko” Aspera

one more year to go

Course: Bachelor of Science in Mechatronics Engineering
Years of study: 4 years
University: Bulacan State University
Expected graduation year: 2023

Dear Friends,
How are you doing? I’m glad that I’m writing a letter for you again.

Regards my church ministry, I’m still in the worship team in God’s grace. I lead the praise and worship every other Sunday because me and my sister alternate as the worship leader. We’re blessed that now we have a youth who is committed to play the beatbox. I taught him for almost a month and then I asked our pastor if he can play for praise and worship and he said yes. Although, it is far from what we are praying - that our church will have a full music band with bassist, drummer, guitarists, pianist, and back-up singers, still it is a progress and beyond that it is a blessing. We have an outreach that started last August 7 this year. Please pray that more souls will be reached through that extension.

In my studies, I’m am excited to tell you how God gave me the privilege to be in the top 20 in our batch. I almost cried when I saw that I’m the top 15 last semester. I was praying before to be included in top 20 and tried to study harder to become one. Thanks to our Lord He answered yes to my prayers. I am now in my 4th year, and I’m praying that this would be the last. It has been said to us that there’s a chance that we will have a face-to-face class on August 22 this year, and I’m hoping this is true. It is necessary in our course to learn our subjects through actual experiences.

applying knowledgeWe had our on-the-job training last July 2 until August 4. It was a fun experience (I'm in the grey mask). We got to apply our knowledge acquired from the university to the outside world. Our major project is to make a capping machine automated (see photo below - I'm second from left). It took us 3 weeks to plan, fix, and automate the machine. We thought that we don’t have enough time to accomplish that but in God’s grace we succeeded it on our last day. It is a blessing also that our supervisors from the company are so approachable and fun to be with. We also learned some company cultures that are somehow new to us. Overall, I gained new technical and interpersonal skills through our OJT.

applying knowledgeBefore I end this letter, I’d like to say that you are a blessing for me and to my family. I’ll never forget how you helped me for my study. I’ll always pray the God will give your heart fulfillment, peace, and joy.

Mentor's Report

Good day my dear brethren. Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Time has past by so quickly, and this letter serves as a thanksgiving letter first to our Lord Jesus Christ, to INCAP-CAPTE sponsorship program, and to the sponsor of Johnnery Jr. F. Aspera.

The whole second semester of the academic year 2021-2022 was challenging but Johnnery enjoyed his online schooling at home. 13 subjects, which had a total of 15 units. Surprisingly, glad upon finishing the second semester, he became one of the top 20 students of Mechatronics Engineering Department in their batch. He’s in the 15th rank. He had no vacation. For these last two months academic vacation, he was enrolled for on the job training. He had to complete 250 hours. He worked for a company related to his course. It’s part of their curriculum. Thank God, he was accepted by the All Trade Marketing and Manufacturing Company, which made him realize the beauty off his course. He did actual work repairing broken machines. Those that were theories only before, now a realization of what they really are. He was so happy about it. Now, he is enrolled for his last year, God willing. He is in his 4th year first semester. He declined an offer to run a position for vice president for external affair in their departmental organization because he wanted to focus as the Editor-in-chief in their departmental student publication.

At home, of course, parents are happy. Their son being at home studying. There is a lot of time to be together as a family particularly in daily devotion. In the church, he is the guitarist, song leader, children teacher, and sometimes messenger of God’s Word during Sunday service worship.

Being his mentor and father as well, I am very thankful to the Lord for giving me Johnnery as my son.

Love in Christ,
Pastor Johnnery D Aspera

Course: Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English
Years of study: 4 years
University: Bulacan State University Meneses-Campus
Expected graduation year: 2022

Dear Friends,
One of the beneficiaries of the International Needs Scholarship is myself, Mark Joshua L. Mondano. I'm able to pursue my dream of earning a Bachelor of Secondary Education with a Major in English and a Minor in Mandarin at Bulacan State University because of your kind sponsorship. The day of my graduation, July 15, 2022, is approaching. I've kept a GWA of 1.58 throughout my degree. Additionally, I received a Cum Laude award from the university's Latin Honors program. I appreciate you giving me the chance to apply for this scholarship.

Thanks to your sponsorship, I was able to focus on my academics and lessen my financial load by having my college expenditures covered. I want to thank you for continuing to sponsor me from my first year of college to my final year.

Mentor’s Report

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, MJ hardly attended our church. Aside from being a student, he took several jobs just to add to their income. But from time to time I would check his situation through Messenger.

When he graduated with honors (cumlaude), I was very happy for him. He deserved it not simply because of his perseverance, but also he relied on the strength of God.

Hopefully, now that he has a job, he will be able to find time to go to church. And he does need to be actively involved in the ministry but also just be part of the worshiping community.

Ruvelaine Hamis

finished studying

Course: Bachelor of Marketing Management
Years of study: 4 years
University: Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina
Expected graduation year: 2022

Dear Bright Hope World,
Hello to all of you! How are you all? Hoping you are all safe and sound by God’s grace and faithfulness.

My heart is grateful as I write this letter of mine. I remembered the last time I shared my journey of my college life here in the Philippines. I thank God I passed all the courses and I graduated on time on June 28, 2022. Fortunately, my part-time job as a crew in a fast-casual dining restaurant was also my on-the-job training. It’s not easy to be a working student yet God never failed to sustain me and give me strength in everyday life.

As I always give my best, my managers pushed me to try to apply for a managerial position, and thank God I passed the exam. Now after so many processes for the requirements, as of the moment, we are in the training for us to learn everything we need to be an excellent store manager soon, especially we need to focus on every standard in operation internal and externally. Time flies really fast as I always said, after I finished my schooling, it’s time to focus on my career path.

May God be with me always and guide me throughout my life. Grateful for all the processes I had to go through. I am forever grateful for all of you as one of the people I can share my life with. Thank you for supporting me up to last. And now, I can somewhat help my parents and siblings.

May God bless and protect us in what we all do. I love you with the love of the Lord. Please take care of yourself.

Mentor's Report

I am gladly sending this report about our CAPTE scholar, Ms. Ruvelaine Hamis, in Olandes Marikina for her involvement in the church and her studies. Below is the summary of their progress.
• She is currently active in church. She attends church services every week.
• She is also actively involved in ministry.
• She is a singer-song leader and backup singer in our church.
• She is part of the Treasury Department of the church.
• She is doing well in her studies

Ruvelaine graduated cum laude. Her family and church mates are so proud of her. Young people in the church look up to her because they have witnessed Ruvelaine's  struggles and how she managed to endure all of it because of God's grace to her.

She is now working as manager in Greenwich-Sta Lucia, one of the well-known fast food restaurant sin the country. She still plans to study again, improve her skills and enhance personal growth. She is excited for God's plan for her in the future.

As the oldest child, she considers it her responsibility to help her parents financially. She wants her younger siblings to finish college as it will give them a better chance to have a good life.

Personally, I appreciate her continuous involvement in the church and in her willingness to learn and grow more in their faith the Lord!
