Activities
Despite the effect of COVID and illness things have not completely stopped. Here are some of the major activities of the past 6 months.
In October 2020, in collaboration with Bryan Fruish (Sowers New Zealand), Ngoy was involved in translating and reviewing the translation into French of the SOWERS manuals.
During October through to December 2020 he had numerous Zoom meetings with the chairman of the National Sowers Councils of Ivory Coast and Togo, and face to face meetings with the DRC team in Lubumbashi. Ngoy is the Regional Advisor for these countries.
In Novermber he visited Kolwezi, Lualaba Province in DRC for a Level 1 Sowers Training.
In mid-December he travelled to Lusaka, Zambia to meet with the other Regional Advisors for a regional conference.
In the early months of 2021 they have printed manuals and supplied SOWERS materials to the National Boards.
The ongoing work is to encourage Sowers who are out, day by day preaching, leading people to Christ, following them up and gathering them into groups. This requires visits to the places they are working.
In that past month there has been a SOWERS training to equip them in God's work through evangelization.
Personal
The past six months has presented a number of personal challenges. Several friends and colleagues have died. COVID has severely restricted movement to the various places he intended to travel to and the family went through a very serious period of illness in late October and early November 2020. Currently they are all much better though the recovery has been slow.
Some Achievements
The Sowers who were trained in November 2020 were amazed at the ease of presenting the Gospel through the methods of SOWERS.
A new local church was established in Luizi in the territory of Nyunzu by the Sowers from Kongolo. This has been a great encouragement to the Sowers who were involved and the church in Kongolo.
There is a renewed determination to continue with the work of evangelism in Kolwezi, Kasenga, and Lubumbashi in the DRC.
They are committed to strengthening the work in Abidjan (Ivory Coast) and Tabligbo (Togo). This will require visits once they are able to travel again.
Ngoy is an activist and there are always many ideas on the go. In an ideal world, he would love to organize two conferences with National Directors, Regional Coordinators and National Councils in West Africa and Lubumbashi to convey the new Policy and work system of SOWERS. "This would be a very good thing," says Ngoy.
The health condition that Ngoy is recovering from still limits his ability to do all he would like to.
The government restrictions following the COVID-19 pandemic is also an issue which prevents certain activities and movement.
They have big goals and plans and would love more resources to do more than they are currently able.
Prayer and Praise Points
1) That the family is recovering from the impact of COVID-19
2) That despite the difficulties, they have still been able to do some work and move the work forward.
3) That in the past six months at least one new church has been established.
Ngoy is a key person in the development of Sowers in francophone Africa. Of course, COVID-19 has restricted his ability to get out and do as much as he would have liked to do but supporting him continues to be a good investment in his role as Regional Advisor.
