First of all, I would like to wish all the BHW team a warm happy 2021 in Jesus Christ.
Activities
We have been very busy because of different factors. We organized an evangelical trip to Kamituga, 234 km from Bukavu, on January 8th. We were supposed to only stay there for three days and to return to Bukavu on the 11th January but unfortunately while we were doing the Lord's work, the next day we were informed that the road was cut off. We therefore had to stay until the 21st January 2021.
Since our return, we had been caught up in closing periodical loan activities.
We have just organized training sessions for the new groups that will benefit from the loans. This is the Kalonge Group and the Idjwi Group. In addition, we will strengthen the number for Katana as they worked well during the period of activity that began on 27/07/2020 until 26/01/2021 or 6-months of activity.
From the 20 former beneficiaries we have had two members die from COVID-19. Both have left widows whom we are currently assisting.
After the training sessions we plan to start a new loan distribution session on 30/01/2021 which will also be for a 6-month period.
The coupled report of the closing of the first funds distributed and returned and the report of the distribution of the new funds will be sent in due course.
Following the closure of the borders we have a high number of beneficiaries. The cross-border traders between the DRC and Rwanda who are members of our group are still waiting for our assistance. We are overwhelmed by requests.
Besides these traders, we also have groups of children from the pygmy group who have joined us. These children are Christians from our church in Kalonge. They are very severely malnourished. Our intervention requires education on the modern techniques of agriculture and livestock. They require seeds (Haricot, corn, amaranths, etc.). In addition to this, they also require a new water source because they consume water unfit for consumption.
For all that we report here, we need your prayers as God leads our activities.
Best regards,
Paulin
