Thanking you for praying and supporting the Palma evangelistic trip to all our esteemed partners and friends. Palma needs your prayers and your support, Palma needs Jesus Christ. Palma needs a vibrant and influential church where people will not only hear the word of God but also be able to see the power of God, because the Kingdom of God is not in word but in power.
Palma Evangelistic trip; we have just been to Palma from the 18-23 August 2017. Palma is one of the districts in Cabo-delgado Province located in the very north of the country towards the border with Tanzania. The people of Palma are called the Macue or Makwe people and they are about 100% Muslim.
Economically Palma is about to become the commercial and economical capital of Mozambique because of the gas and petroleum mines which are due to start production of these commodities early in the coming year, and so we expect a lot of movement in that area. Therefore there is the need for a strong and vibrant church in that area, which will not only be able to bring in the locals but also the many foreigners who will be there because of employment.
Three things the Lord spoke very clearly to me on the 19/8/17 in the morning as I was praying - dry land, a lot of idol worship and the need for a lot of prayer. The few days of our being there was enough to confirm the revelation I had on that first morning of our being there on this second visit.
The good news however is that there is already a small fellowship going on there even though the area is hard. This is led by one of our first disciples who was employed by the government in Pemba but transferred to Palma and is now working there. The idea however is to get someone there on a full time basis.
We need to buy a church plot to build on later and we need to do that very urgently before the prices sky rocket in that area because of the gas and petrol production which is about to start early next year. Already there is a scramble for land because of the influx of many other people moving there in search of employment. There is also need for a grinding mill and a bore hole for water or manual pump which we can both use as income generating projects.
Please kindly pray for;
- salvation of the Makwe people and the rain of God to soften the land,
- a vibrant and influential church,
- the urgent buying of a church plot
All the love,
Chris & Sue
