Outreach Updates

Our theme for the 6th May was faith. The women are beginning to share more deeply in their small groups about how they see God in their difficult situations. Tui shared about her husband, who is diabetic and has had an amputation of one of his lower legs, so he cannot work. He gets frustrated and takes it out on her. She feels hurt by his attitude and feels the pressure to provide for the family. Tui shared knowing Jesus loves her, and knows her pain, really helps her through the difficult times and she feels his peace.

Lek, one of the Lady Boys who attends our Outreach, shared his testimony of how God has changed his life. Lek has mental health issues and on occasion we have seen him around Patpong, drunk. In the past he has been poor with medication compliance, so one of the Mama Sans (Madam) has been giving him his medication daily to ensure he gets it. He shared now he sharingis off all his medication and is doing well. He looks healthier, happier and is clean and his hygiene is now good. He gives credit to God for his improved health.

In May, we had a second outreach on the 23rd supported and run by Envision Thailand’s visiting American team. A total of four people accepted Christ: two at each event. The team of young people from America shared three testimonies that impacted our people seeing that young people all over the world can experience difficult times and God’s love, provision and peace in those times.

May outreachNew Christians on Patpong

During our outreach on 6th May, Pastor Wiinai led Sa and Noi to the Lord. Our outreach team met Noi a few days before when we visited her bar. Noi is 40 years old with a 23- year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son. She was married at 19 in an arrangement where her husband’s family paid off the loan her father owed to a money lender. After 21 years of marriage, Noi discovered her husband was not only working in Bangkok, but also had a another “wife” and any pretence of their marriage, is now over leaving her and her son unprovided for. Noi had only been in the bars for a month when we met her and is thinking that it is not the life for her, but also feels a sense of loyalty to the bar. We pray, she will be able to put aside the sense of guilt and leave. We visit her in her bar, she makes regular contact with Prai and continues to be touched by God.

US Team Visit

visitorsOn the 23rd May, a team from the US hosted by Envision Thailand put on an extra event at Rahab. Our people love to dance, so the time included a dance, games and 3 of the young people shared their testimonies. Many were visibly touched by hearing the young people’s stories and how God has come through for them in very difficult times.

Dtai from Patpong commented on how encouraged she was, that we all have trials in our lives however old we are, or wherever we come from. She shared how God has changed her life and given her strength. To have someone who has come to Christ through Rahab share with the other women is powerful.

Two more came to accept Christ and the Holy Spirit touched many.

Prayer and Praise Points

Praise

new believersFor Noi and Sa who gave their hearts to Jesus at our May Outreach and Mot and Alang on the 23rd May. Please pray for them as they start their journey in Christ.

Recently we have had some new enquiries about purchasing our jewellery, please pray for more  jewellery sales.

Prayer

Please pray for Peh who shared her testimony at our 2022 Christmas Party. Peh has terminal cancer, and her health is deteriorating, but she loves the Lord and has no fear of death. She continues to help out in the laundry as she can despite being encouraged to rest. Our prayer is for her to remain in His comfort and presence.

Bu is thinking about leaving her job as a "tour operator" or tout on the street (enticing men into the bars) and coming to Rahab. Please pray she has the courage to trust God to provide for her and make this decision. She is still hooked into the promise of money and men that could provide for her that traps so many in the bars.

Pray for Gow and Git who are about to open their smoothie shop. We look forward to visiting once they're open and praying with them.
