Significant Events

a) The calling together of members and partner churches to intercessory prayer for the country and the ministry of SOWERS

b) The multiplication of meetings of the churches of Upper Katanga (Lubumbashi, Luapula-Moero) and those of the Province of Tanganyika (Moba, Kalemie, Kongolo, Kabalo and Manono) with regard to their total involvement in the mission of the church. Leaflets were printed and distributed to more than 1500 churches.

c) The National Office has had to organize several missions and visits in missionary areas where Sowers are much more active: Kasenga, Kolwezi, Kongolo and Lubumbashi.

d) Organizing the training of Sowers' and helping them progress through the levels as envisaged by the mission. At the end of these training sessions, we recorded not only the creation of self-financing projects (the cultivation of maize, beans and peanuts) in Lubumbashi, Kasenga and Ankoro, but also 12 Sowers went from one level to the next (from L2 to L5).

e) The establishment of three new churches: one in Kahwebo (Kongolo), the other in Lubumbashi (Kazadi Muyembi) and another in Kolwezi (in the account of the 38th CFCG) 

New Profiles

Fataki Abigael-Elisée Séphora is a sister currently registered among the level 3 members and the only woman very involved in the ministry of evangelization in Lubumbashi. She is a member of the New Covenant Evangelical Church.

Pierre Bondo Nkomeja is a pastor and evangelistic team leader in the Evangelical House Church. He is also Level 3.

Both Sephora and Pierre are very active in their Christian communities and as part of SOWERS (see their stories below). Each one takes care of a missionary area where the missionary needs to reach local churches and organize training and evangelistic campaigns.

Their contribution to our Sowers teams will be both spiritual (through prayer) and administrative in the ministry. They will seek to strengthen the existing Sowers team but also to be people who can help the ministry in its discipleship goals according to Matthew 28: 19-20 and Mark 15:16.

Personal Stories

Fataki Abigaël-Elisée Séphora

Sephora is 37 years old. A Catholic by birth, Séphora accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 15 thanks to a mother who introduced her to the good news of Jesus. However, although she was saved, she continued to live as a person without Christ (use of beer and plenty of boyfriends) until one day she met someone who explained the Gospel to her using the counseling booklet and she asked forgiveness from God and the people whom she had abused. Since then, Séphora has become a soul winner and an active member of SOWERS.

Following her commitment to the Lord, Sister Séphora has chosen to remain single to face each day the opportunities to win souls to Christ.

Pierre Bondo Nkomeja

Pierre is 46 and is married to Mrs Allois Mwansa Ngoie who is a Level 2 Sower. This couple of Sowers has a family of eight children.

Born into a Christian family, Pierre Bondo, as any child without God, lived a disorderly life in ignorance. It was thanks to an evangelical message presented to him by an evangelist that he made the decision to accept the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior.

Having understood the great objectives of his life on this earth among which is "to serve God", Pierre Bondo Nkomeja undertook (together with his wife) SOWERS training. He finds it an effective and easy way to present the Gospel to people without Christ. Here is what he says about SOWERS: "I love to talk about Jesus to everyone and I love this ministry of SOWERS that has just brought something more to my life. Just after my conversion and even shortly before knowing this method of evangelization, I was heavy, ashamed and without courage. But since I was trained by SOWERS, everything has changed in me. I have become flexible, zealous and unashamed of presenting the saving gospel of Jesus."

His commitment to the ministry of evangelization has made him competent, at ease, and always available to train other members of his local church.

Pastors of the local churches are thanking the Lord for having brothers and sisters who are currently committed to serving God in and out of the church through the ministry proven by these trained Sowers.

Ideas for the Future

Our Sowers Committee proposes to put together new plans and strategies on the use of funds that will allow the proper functioning of the ministry. 

Current Issues and Challenges

The SOWERS office continues to ask questions about how to manage the social life of those who commit themselves to the work of God, because they also have families who expect to benefit from their training.

There is also the problem of moving the evangelists to other parts of the country which is not always easy due to lack of good roads and sufficient financial means. Evangelists need to go further to bring the Word of God, especially in villages with a high concentration of animist spirits in the population.

And finally, there is also the need to equip these local churches located in remote areas of the country with our working materials: Bibles, tracts and other evangelistic materials.
