Activities

In March 2016 another group of three students commenced their training at Woodland Nursing Home, Mokukchung.

helping lots of peopleBright Hope Nagaland teams went to two places in Peren District and held medical clinics. It was really helpful for the people and they were very grateful. Altogether more than 350 patients were treated and the teams had wonderful fellowship with them. They also had talks on socioeconomic empowerment. This district isn't far from Dimapur but communication is very bad and people are still in need of health care education.

In November 2016 BHW's Field Director visited the training hospital and met the students and the team of trainers. The staff and the hospital director (Dr Tongpang) were very happy with progress and the programme. While there they negotiated to do one more course before deciding if the training programme would continue.

finished trainingIn March 2017 the three students graduated. This is the fourth group of graduates. The pastors of Mokokchung Town Baptist Church and Dimapur Ao Baptist Church along with the Mission Secretary from ABAM (Ao Baptist Missionary Association) were present at the programme. They were very impressed with this mission project and the BH Nagaland team are hoping for a good response from these two churches in regard to long term partnership with the programme.

Partnership's Influence within the Community

The people in Myanmar, where the trainees serve, are very thankful for the help and assistance of the team members. BH Nagaland receive many comments from the leaders there as they organise medical camps along the border. Whenever they do medical camps, the people and leaders of the communities are very happy to have assistance. However, they have learned that most of the cases they see are caused by a lack of basic health care. That is why this programme has been developed.

past and present studentsIdeas for the Future

As well as the graduation of the three students in early March 2017, five new students were inducted into the programme. They have commenced their training which goes for a year. All the students are from Myanmar which is the primary focus of the team in terms of ministry.

Current Issues and Challenges

No major challenges apart from the difficult situations the trainees find as they serve in Myanmar. There is much poverty and ignorance amongst the local people.

Prayer and Praise Points

special timeDr Sunep Imchen, one of the leaders of the programme, wrote about the graduation, "It was a very emotional moment when the first graduate came from Myanmar to attend the program came and shared her testimony and experiences in the field. Really it was a rewarding moment. I praise God and give all the glory to Him and thank all the people involved from Bright Hope World for making this project a very meaningful one."

Comments

This is a useful little programme and over time will really assist with helping hundreds of families. I think we could look at increasing the support to five students for 2017. The training finishes at the end of the 2017 academic year and will be reassessed.
